Three Local Manufacturers Power 10% of Nassau County’s GDP—an Outsized Impact from a Concentrated Manufacturing Footprint

According to the latest study, Rayonier Advanced Materials, Smurfit Westrock, and LignoTech Florida collectively supported 2,883 jobs—accounting for 6.6 percent of total employment—and contributed $442 million to Nassau County’s GDP, representing 9.6 percent of the local economy in 2023. Between 2021 and 2023, the three companies invested more than $136 million in capital improvements, and their operations generated $22 million in tax contributions to the State of Florida and Nassau County.

Annual Mill Day at Fort Clinch

In celebration of Earth Day and Arbor Day, the local manufacturers co-hosted the Second Annual Family Fun Mill Day with Friends of Fort Clinch, raising tens of thousands of dollars for conservation projects at Fort Clinch State Park.

Hands-On Stewardship

Mill employees and their families participated in restoring the park’s Beach Side area by planting native palms, removing invasive species, cleaning the shoreline, and painting park facilities.
